About Us
Jev Care Home Initiative was successfully registered with CAC Nigeria. The registration was done on 18th December 2014, and launched 1st March, 2015. Caring is what we do, it’s what we love and it’s what we hope to share with you and your family. This is because we have compassion for the aged parents.
JEV CARE HOME INITIATIVE’S vision as an NGO (Non-governmental organization) is for the aged or elderly parents to live in a comfortable home outside their homes, so as to mix up with other old people and be happy, making friends and staying healthy.
Learn MoreThe reason for this relief for children is due to the following reasons, which includes, decreasing family size, the geographical dispersion of families, and the tendency for children to be educated and work outside the home. Although, these changes have affected the elderly parents and children in so many ways, siblings can hold fiercely different positions about what they “should” do. Some make huge sacrifices of time and money to comfort and care for both parents (dad and mum), others hardly show their faces even when parents pine for them. But if families can’t resolve these difficult issues, will they abandon their old parents? That is the more reason Jev Care Home Initiative is willing and ready to care for them.
Jev Care will make sure her elderly parents are occupied with activities such as games, talking and spending time with each other to relieve stress. While novels will be given to those that like reading. Jev Care will not allow her aged parents to be isolated. The aged parents will do things they enjoy most, thereby making them to laugh, this is because this can help to overcome trials, stress and pain. Different exercises will be carried out in the care home with the help of the care givers and these will help them stay stronger and healthier. As this is going on, the care givers will also watch out for signs of depression, anxiety for any elderly parent that is behaving as such to receive immediate attention and treatment.
The security of the elderly parents is very important to Jev Care Home Initiative. The older they become, the higher they are expose to risk. Our elderly parents are exposed to different risk stated below, that is why we are ready to offer services to the elderly parents to reduce the risk and make sure they are safe and sound. Below are some risks the elderly parents are exposed to when alone:
Fire outbreak: Due to their forgetful nature, they could doze off when cooking, and forget to turn off the stove or appliances, or carelessness with matches. They may even experience blackout and lead to a fall.
Failure to take medication or overdosing: This may be a sign of confusion, forgetfulness, or a misunderstanding of the doctor’s instructions. This can happen when there is no care giver or family member to remind him/her of the drugs and dosage. This can lead to death.
Burns or injury marks: This is as a result of physical problems involving general weakness, forgetfulness, or a possible misuse of alcohol.
Increased car accidents: Frequent car accidents can be signs of slowed reflexes, poor vision, physical weakness, or general inability to handle a vehicle. Jev Care wants to reduce the risk of car accidents by providing mobility for them. This will be carried out by offering a suitable car and a careful driver to take them out when required.
General forgetfulness: Such as not remembering to lock the doors at night, consistently forgetting names, addresses, phone numbers, and meal times, and not recognizing the children and family members, not knowing who one is, where one is, talking to people who are not there could be dangerous and these can attract thieves to the home. Jev Care Home is encouraging children to bring them to the home where we are sure of their security.
Intense suspicions: This could indicate some thinking disorder. Your elderly parents thinking that their neighbors, friends, family, doctor, and lawyer are all conspiring against them would be an example. Intense ungrounded fears about awful consequences may be a danger signal to them.
It’s no secret that as our parents get older, their body becomes more susceptible to various ailments. There are plenty ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle as they age, but a healthy lifestyle, is not enough. Special attention has to be given to the elderly by the family or care givers for them to have a longer life spans especially older adults in their 70s, 80s and beyond. Staying healthy is essential to their quality of life
Jev Care home Initiative provides services to help the aged maintain their independence within the comfort of the home. It’s normal for them to want to stay in their homes as they grow older. Nevertheless, taking a step back to look at the picture of staying alone for a long period of time can help them decide, if staying alone is safe or unsafe for them. In the absence of their children, Jev Care Home will be there consistently to care for them by preparing their meal (balanced diet), laundry, cleaning, and other domestic assistance needed
